Good evening,

the underfloor heating in my bathroom is acting up. It does work but only heats the floor very mildly on setting 6.

A friend removed the thermostat and found a burnt spot on the resistor, suggesting that it probably doesn’t switch to the higher settings.

It is an older switch from Eberle Electronics, model 52521, 220V, 50Hz, AC 250V, 16A. The sticker on the inside also includes the information 20T 40/70 4K/n.

Now to my dilemma. According to the previous owner of the apartment, the switch was installed around 2005. Replacement parts with the article number 52521 are available, but they are modernized and about twice as expensive.

I need advice on purchasing and possibly installing a replacement. On eBay and Google, there are many Eberle switches available, all very stylish and visually similar, in a price range I can tolerate, around 20-30€ (approximately $22-33). But which one is the right one? And can it be installed exactly like the old one?

I hope the pictures I uploaded help the community assist me and I look forward to an active exchange of information.

Thank you and have a nice evening

Dominik

It is generally not a problem to connect a different thermostat to the underfloor heating system.
Your unit appears to have a floor sensor connected.
If this sensor is faulty, I believe the system heats at about 30%.
I just want to say that if you are not familiar with this topic, it is better to have an electrician or installer with the appropriate expertise take a look.

Of course, you can also connect a new thermostat yourself and see if anything changes, but the labeling on the terminal strip will most likely not match your old one.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your response.

A professional will definitely come to the house, at least an electrician, since an outdoor light switch still needs to be installed. I will not be "tinkering" with it myself!

Could you possibly find a replacement switch for me, for example on eBay, so that I don’t give the installer the wrong one? His fees are about 80€ plus installation.

Thank you and have a nice evening.
