Hello experts,

I would like to paint my house. A painting contractor has already visited to discuss the right paint and primer. He told me that the paint on the metal cladding and around the windows needs to be removed, and the wooden parts should be sanded. Here is a picture of the house:

However, he couldn’t really give me advice on how to remove the paint from the window surrounds. For the metal parts, he suggested trying a scraper, and for the wooden parts, sanding. Has anyone had experience with this? Since I want to do it myself and it will be a one-person job, I would appreciate any tips to complete the work quickly.

Many, many thanks.

Best regards,

Christian

Are you planning to change it to a less attractive color to reduce the neighbors’ envy? — to me, this looks like an "after" picture :-)

Admittedly, this photo is already 10 years old, and it is time for a fresh coat of paint. The base will be a bit darker. We plan to use the same style of paint for the rest. Although light-colored window sills tend to get dirty quickly. Can you answer my questions?

The shutters with louvers. This will be a tedious task. (Punishment work)

Sanding with 120 grit using an orbital sander and then by hand, followed by priming and painting.

Are these wooden windows with insulated glazing? Real muntins?
