Hello
We want to have a refrigerator with a fixed water connection for our new build, for example for ice cubes.
My question is: How long can the supply hose for the refrigerator be?
The hose has a 1/4" diameter.
The water connection in our kitchen is about 3m (10 feet) away from the refrigerator.
My question is:
Do we need to install a separate water connection for the refrigerator?
Or can we run a thin 1/4" line surface-mounted to the refrigerator?
Or is a 3m (10 feet) supply hose long enough?

I find it very difficult to make a good decision without an overall view of the kitchen layout.
You also need to consider whether it might be worth installing, for example, a combi-steamer with a fixed water connection or a fully automatic coffee machine with a fixed water connection. Where would that be located?
It will never be as cost-effective as during the construction phase to simply add a second water connection.
I have one for my icemaker in my rental apartment.

For this, we need a direct water connection because we don't want to refill a tank manually.
The hose length should not be too long to prevent the growth of bacteria in stagnant water.
Since I am not very familiar with this, I wanted to ask if a hose length of 2.5m (8 feet) is acceptable.
Nothing else besides the refrigerator is planned for the water connection.

Is it sufficient to use the plastic supply hose from the refrigerator, or should we install a pipe surface-mounted to the refrigerator? A hose is enough. Word for word.

FrankChief11 Sep 2022 20:13I do not have an overview.
The water connection for the dishwasher is 2.5m (8 feet) away from the refrigerator.
The hose would need to be routed along the floor under the cabinets to reach the refrigerator.
