Does anyone have experience with the prices for reed switches in windows and doors?
We want to monitor these and asked our general contractor about the costs. They now want 185 EUR per contact including installation.
When I look online, I find these contacts for around 30 EUR.
So the installation alone would cost 150 EUR. This does not include the wiring to the home automation room (HAR). That seems very expensive to me.
Therefore, I thought about sourcing the parts myself and installing them. I was then told that I would lose the warranty for the windows.

The second point regarding the contacts is the quantity. For double-leaf doors, the contractor now wants to install one contact on each leaf. In my opinion, one contact on the leaf that opens first should be sufficient. Or am I mistaken?
I would appreciate hearing how you see this or how you have already solved it.

39€ per contact plus tax.
Additional cost for wiring to the control cabinet.
For double-leaf doors, one contact on the first leaf is sufficient.
However, an error message might occur if both leaves are opened and then only the first leaf is closed.
In that case, the contact signals closed, but the second leaf is still open.
You need to decide if you can accept that.

€: I should add that this was the price from the window manufacturer, since we are managing the contracts individually.

I would probably be stunned by the prices.

For us, if I had to replace the reed switches we use with those from the manufacturer, it would cost over €3500. Doing it myself would be less than €100. That’s why I would probably just lie down for a moment.

I’m not sure exactly which switches are supposed to be installed. But I know a supplier where such parts cost a maximum of €10.

If you buy ones that can be screwed on but temporarily attach them to the frame or sash with double-sided tape, why should you lose the warranty? And these parts are available for about €5.

However, if they are to be installed hidden in the frame and sash, meaning the windows would be damaged, then the warranty situation is, of course, different.

Either way, definitely ask to have empty conduits installed to the windows and doors, rather than just cables embedded in the wall.

PS. I sent you a link.

I just reviewed the quote more closely. It also offers the option to install the reed switches with only open and closed detection. In this case, only 50% of them would have tilted detection. This price seems "normal" to me. I just wonder why the tilted option should cost twice as much. So I will probably choose the version without tilted detection.

I’m not sure how reed contacts are read outside of KNX systems, but here they are connected via a binary input. That’s why I absolutely need two reed contacts per sash to distinguish between tilted and open positions.
This would also explain the doubled price in your case.

We paid 500 euros just for the 12 outlets (including the patio door).

Price from the general contractor.
