Hello everyone,

Is there a good method to protect the front door from dirt and damage during the construction phase? Or is it generally recommended to install it as late as possible?

I always assumed that having a construction site door during the building phase would be standard practice. Would that not be an option in your case?

A construction door will be installed first. However, the final door has already been ordered and will likely be delivered to the installer in the not-too-distant future. He probably doesn’t want to keep it in his storage for too long. But I will definitely bring it up once the door arrives from the manufacturer.
We didn’t want to order the door later because it was part of a special offer and, above all, because the decision was already finalized. In other construction projects, it probably isn’t always possible to install the main entrance door so late in the process due to scheduling.

Our frame, which is protected with adhesive film, has arrived, and the handle is attached but protected with tape. The actual panel is not installed yet and will now be replaced with a wooden board. Karsten

Hello,
in our case, the final front door was only installed shortly before handover. The frame, of course, was in place earlier, but until about 2 weeks before handover, there was just a board with hinges and a lock serving as the door leaf. In the last few weeks, the door was then protected with thick blankets.

I definitely wouldn’t install it too early. You will almost certainly risk dents and damage!

Protect the front and back with corrugated cardboard, and wrap the edges with plastic film.

Best regards
