I am honestly shocked right now. Our construction company just informed me that they want 21.4% more money due to price increases in the building industry. At the moment, I am still stunned and can’t think clearly.

Well, sometimes you can slightly miscalculate. If I had been aware of the full extent of all delays and additional costs, I probably wouldn’t have planned a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery today...

We now have to pay only 15.4% more for the house instead of the originally requested 21.4% increase, but the price increase for next year is already included.

To me, especially considering the way it’s presented, this has the unpleasant feel of a cheap psychological trick called the anchoring effect. In my opinion, you should discuss with a lawyer how far this qualifies as a “doorstep sale” and whether it makes sense to pursue a cancellation. The “seller” must have headhunters from the electric blanket mafia lining up ;-)

..,
At least I'm glad that the house will have a nice, warm, yellow shade and red roof tiles. 🙂
Great! Finally red roof tiles again 🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing pictures. And of course, that it all turned out reasonably well!

I really don't believe it (to quote Mr. Kerkeling).

That was exactly my first thought, so I have to agree with 11ant. Unless the contractual situation is 100% clear, I wouldn’t pay another cent out of goodwill.

It’s nice that you’re happy about it, and I don’t want to spoil that for you. If you’re willing and able to live with it, that’s your decision. But for me, the 3x 0.6% price increases would be acceptable... assuming that this was properly reflected in the contract.

Your consistent refusal was definitely an effective tactical measure. It seems they wanted to overwhelm you while you were in shock; otherwise, I can't explain such an approach. If they had been confident in all the flowery writing, you wouldn’t have received a call........

A forum like this might be helpful and could discourage a visit to a lawyer due to potential additional costs, but here we are talking about more than just 1-2 euros.
I would recommend consulting a lawyer immediately, without relying on any negotiation skills.
