I am honestly shocked right now. Our construction company just informed me that they want 21.4% more money due to price increases in the building industry. At the moment, I am still stunned and can’t think clearly.

Seriously, no matter how silly it may seem, as long as we’re still dealing with casement windows and increased ceiling height, we are FAR from "it's no longer possible"

I understand your point. We need to take out a second loan that we will be paying off for the rest of our lives, but at least it is possible for us. However, I never said "it's no longer possible." But as I said, I understand your comment and you are right in this matter.

A forum like this can be helpful and might deter going to a lawyer because of possible extra costs, but here it’s about more than just 1-2 euros. I would consult a lawyer immediately, regardless of any negotiation skills.
Correct, I would definitely want to know the legal aspects and my options in this regard before agreeing to anything.

Just give it to me straight. What does the house cost?
Square meters, location, brick cladding? Gable roof, etc. I'm genuinely curious now.

I would be interested in that as well. Costs are often discussed in this forum. It feels like over the past two years, the rough estimate has risen from 2000€/m² (approximately 185 USD/ft²) to 2500€/m² (approximately 230 USD/ft²). What is the current price per square meter after the price increase (excluding additional construction costs, basement, garage, customization, etc.)?

Two weeks ago in Bad Vilbel, we already heard prices of €3000/m² several times...

We are still at the old prices; if you only consider the living area without the covered terrace, it is 2,850 €/m² (square meter) for a high-standard finish. Building in Brandenburg is therefore not comparable to Baden-Württemberg or Bavaria, etc.
