I am honestly shocked right now. Our construction company just informed me that they want 21.4% more money due to price increases in the building industry. At the moment, I am still stunned and can’t think clearly.
Wow, that’s intense. Regardless of what the construction contract says, this kind of announcement really undermines the foundation a bit! It’s either fighting because there’s a fixed price in the contract for xx months, or fighting because they might raise prices, but you simply can’t afford it.
Wasn’t the selection of materials scheduled for the next few days, or am I mixing things up? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it turns out well. This is really tough!

Wasn’t the selection appointment scheduled for the next few days, or am I confusing something? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it turns out well. This is really tough! The selection appointment was supposed to take place tomorrow, and we have already arrived.
And this was only communicated today, one day before the site selection appointment? I find that quite unreasonable. Surely this has been known for a longer time, right?
Maybe they are hoping, "Oh well, we're already here, let's just go through with it now."
I’m really sorry!

Taking a look at your contract should clarify this. I will review the contracts later and, if necessary, share them here. I seem to recall that they are only allowed to charge an additional 0.6% per month of contractual delay, but I don’t know from when this delay period starts or who is responsible. This relates to the issue I recently mentioned, where home builders can delay contracts at will by postponing the selection of finishes and fixtures.
Perhaps they just want to get rid of us cheaply this way because they can now sell their houses at higher prices.
