I am honestly shocked right now. Our construction company just informed me that they want 21.4% more money due to price increases in the building industry. At the moment, I am still stunned and can’t think clearly.
Wow, that’s really intense. I wish you lots of strength to get through this.
However, I don’t understand why such an absurdly high amount is being demanded.
Our general contractor for the concrete structure mentions 5%, and the neighbor’s timber frame builder hasn’t had any price issues because he has over a year’s supply of timber in stock. The few pipes don’t really make that much of a difference.
The construction costs of a house include a significant portion of labor costs. As far as I know, there have been NO increases in wages in the relevant industries. I recently read that, for example, the wage negotiations in the construction sector were postponed.

By the way, there is a moderated subforum here where you are allowed to mention your main contractor (GC). I had already tried that because of this exact general contractor. However, my post was never published, even though it was very moderate and openly worded.

This sounds familiar to me. The general contractor doesn’t start with K..., right?I have also heard of a similar case from people I know. General contractor with K....rdwlnts schrieb:
The 0.6% rate applies only for 6 months. After that, it is added on top of the current price level. We seem to be in the same boat... But the 6 months haven't passed yet, so this is not relevant at the moment; the fixed price was valid until 30.06.21.
That means currently a 1.8% surcharge would be contractually correct.
Or is there a flaw in my reasoning?
