Hello,
we are building a house with a prefabricated basement. The water exposure class is W 2.1 - Situation 1 (temporary hydrostatic pressure), with soil consisting of sand/clay.

The ground slab is made of waterproof concrete C25/30, and the basement walls are precast concrete elements with internal insulation, which will be additionally cast with concrete on site. In addition, an external waterproofing layer will be applied. Until now, I always thought this was a “white tank” waterproofing system, as it is also advertised. However, if it were a white tank system, wouldn’t the concrete itself provide the waterproofing? What is the purpose of the external waterproofing then? That seems more like a “black tank” system. Furthermore, apparently no waterstop or joint water barrier is installed between the ground slab and the precast wall, because the external waterproofing extends over the joint between the wall and ground slab down to the footing. Is this sufficient? Are there any experiences with such constructions?

Good luck, H.

There are dozens of experiences with white and black tank waterproofing systems and various other types of basements here in the forum, which I couldn’t list all. What does the other construction company say, the one continuing from the finished base slab (OKKD)? – Is the basement contracted through them, or did you boldly handle it yourselves?

Everything is handled by the company …, which is the general contractor. They also provide the warranty at the end. They have always been satisfied with the basement builder.
