Hello everyone,
perhaps some of you already have practical experience with electric cars and charging stations. We are about to start the wiring for our new double garage. Attached is a sketch:

Next to the distribution board, there will also be a 16A or 32A outlet. Do you think the number of outlets might be too many? And the main question:
1. Where would you generally place wallboxes? Closer to the garage entrance or inside the garage?
2. For a double garage, would you rather go for two wallboxes?

The companies building it are certainly happy...
And I wonder if the money, which you mostly get as a loan from the bank, wouldn’t be better invested elsewhere rather than on interest?

I am still cheaper than if a general contractor did everything. As I said, I didn’t want to overdo it. In other words, I am allowed to buy the materials myself and prepare most of it. An electrician will inspect and approve it. So, additional costs are minimal.
Example? If I install only 2 outlets instead of 5, I don’t necessarily save on copper wiring, but I save 3 flush-mounted boxes (3 x 19 cents), some plaster, and 3 outlets (about 15 euros).
If I later need an extension cord or something similar, I would have to compare costs for such an extension cord. Flush-mounted installation is probably not more expensive than surface-mounted once you factor in the surface-mounted conduit. Unless you use simple clips.
The ventilation was just a “question.” Only one wallbox will be installed now.

DaGoodness29 Sep 2022 21:58I also insisted on flush-mounted installation in our garage. Although I got some odd looks and heard the comment "That’s not usually done," it was still carried out at no extra cost.
And we have five electrical outlets as well. That was already the minimum. There’s one outlet below the light switch at each door, one for the garage door opener, and two by the workbench at the back. Sometimes I wish we had a few more.

DaGoodness29 Sep 2022 22:09I can’t complain... our house was very affordable. However, that was a few years ago and can’t be compared to the current situation. But to claim that having five electrical outlets in the garage is extravagant and would cause costs to soar seems a bit far-fetched to me :p

So, I can probably do without ventilation then.Hmm, do you really read everything? 🙄Similar topics
