when I look at the cut bricks on the corner, they seem to be filled with mineral wool. That must not get wet. So, this is now a bigger problem. That looks more like mortar. The bricks at the corner don’t appear to be cut based on their size. Also, if you look at the second row of bricks, there is no mineral wool visible on the top surface. Besides, the cavities would be larger if it were mineral wool. The bricks look like ours; I would guess T8 or T9. In our case, nothing was covered there either, and it dried again within hours. On the lowest floor, however, an additional damp-proof course was installed between the first and second row of bricks to prevent water that might accumulate in the basement—especially during the cold season—from being drawn up into the wall.T

I would also guess they are unfilled, but you can never be too early or thorough in calling out sloppy work. They need to learn that leaving the construction site tidy at the end of the day is part of the job, even if it’s not explicitly stated in the contract. Or is this a reminder to the client—maybe the catering leaves something to be desired?

Bau_Schmitty9 Jul 2025 09:26Many thanks for all your responses! The blocks are actually not filled (I should have paid attention to this in my question) – so we worried unnecessarily and should simply trust the company more. After all, they are not building for the first time, unlike us.

So be warned—and for the sake of setting a proper example, you should point it out so they don’t think it goes unnoticed. Otherwise, this is far from being the worst.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
