domsHello!
The weather is nice, so now the outdoor landscaping is next. A question has come up.
We want to create a path right next to the house. Can I lay the paving directly up to the brickwork, or should a gravel strip be installed first? Or perhaps a edging stone next to the brickwork, and then the paving?

Hello.
So, we paved the driveway and path right up to the base coat on the exterior wall. We left a gap of about 1–2 cm (around 0.4–0.8 inches) at the joint and filled it with gravel and sand to prevent stress from the expansion of the paving stones. Both the driveway and the path have an appropriate slope away from the house.
I can’t say if this is absolutely correct, but so far we haven’t had any issues. It shouldn’t get damp there since the basement is insulated and waterproofed, and the paving is sloped.
This is what it looks like by the way
