NattySchw8616 Oct 2022 18:13Hello dear housebuilding forum 🙂
In the past few weeks, we have noticed that the paint is peeling off in many places on the timber beams and on the gable cladding under the roof overhang.
My husband said it is some kind of weather-resistant paint (Remmers paint).
The paint is gray, and in numerous spots, the natural wood color is showing through.
Our house was completed in 2020 – and shortly before handover in summer 2020, it was painted again.
Now the question is whether this falls under warranty or if we have to cover the costs ourselves?!
I understand that the wood will eventually need repainting, but already after just 2 years? Especially the west-facing (windward) side would only be properly accessible for repainting by setting up scaffolding. That is also where the damage is worst.
I’ve attached a picture (and this is actually the less affected side 🙁 ).
We would appreciate any tips/opinions or preferably expert advice 🙂
