Hello,
we are about to start the house construction project. After a lot of questions and considerations, we have now decided on a location. Currently, there are two building plots available. One of them appeals to me because, although the other is larger, the terrace would face north.
I have attached a few screenshots. We have already visited the plot. The size of about 829 m2 (8,920 sq ft) is sufficient, but in my opinion, there is one drawback: a hall on the other side of the driveway.
The house is set back towards the rear, and the garden would be at the front, facing the street. This means that unless we position or look slightly to the left, we would always be looking at this hall.
We want a corner plot, so this would be perfect. The street on the right side is also not much of an issue since the plot is slightly elevated in that direction.
I would just like to get some opinions, critical points, and considerations.
A big advantage I see is that there can be no disturbing neighbors opposite; however, even from the second floor, we probably won’t be able to overlook them. I would place the bedrooms and the living-dining area towards the back or side. The bathroom, kitchen, guest toilet, and utility room would be on this side as well.
The plot number is 8.
Thank you
Best regards
Sandra

There is already construction... duplex, multi-family house... hard to tell, as you can only see one corner. But then only half of the number 5 is visible.
However, if this isn’t the correct plan, it doesn’t matter.
If nobody in the hall can get a clear view of the property, I wouldn’t mind either—it seems to be far enough away (regarding shadows).
A possible drawback could be the length of the street you would have to maintain with a corner lot.
The right side of the property, which faces the street, is a local road that would need to be cleared by a snowplow, for example. The small section wouldn’t be a problem, although I think the snowplow would still need to pass through there.
I believe we would have to maintain the slope ourselves, or at least see how it develops, since we need to fence it off for our dog, and the fence would be on the property itself, not at the bottom of the slope. Low-maintenance options would probably be bark mulch or stones, along with some planting, provided this is allowed. If so, we would want to document everything in writing.
No, the hall is completely closed off on this side, without any windows. I don’t think it will block much light either.
