Hello,
we are about to start the house construction project. After a lot of questions and considerations, we have now decided on a location. Currently, there are two building plots available. One of them appeals to me because, although the other is larger, the terrace would face north.
I have attached a few screenshots. We have already visited the plot. The size of about 829 m2 (8,920 sq ft) is sufficient, but in my opinion, there is one drawback: a hall on the other side of the driveway.
The house is set back towards the rear, and the garden would be at the front, facing the street. This means that unless we position or look slightly to the left, we would always be looking at this hall.
We want a corner plot, so this would be perfect. The street on the right side is also not much of an issue since the plot is slightly elevated in that direction.
I would just like to get some opinions, critical points, and considerations.
A big advantage I see is that there can be no disturbing neighbors opposite; however, even from the second floor, we probably won’t be able to overlook them. I would place the bedrooms and the living-dining area towards the back or side. The bathroom, kitchen, guest toilet, and utility room would be on this side as well.
The plot number is 8.
Thank you
Best regards
Sandra

What is being built at number 5, this elongated building? There is already construction there... Duplex, apartment building... hard to tell, you can only see one corner at a time.

nightdancer15 Jun 2016 12:12TE, only you can decide if you can live with and want the look of the hall. I wouldn’t care. Without compromises, it rarely or never fits within a normal budget.
Fortunately, our cost per square meter is quite reasonable. We pay about 61 €/m2 (5.7 $/ft2).
I also think that if the terrace is built around the corner, the view will pass by the hall. A few bushes towards the street would block most of the view from outside.
The only thing that bothers me, or where I need to ask again, is that the development plan states the fence can only be 1.20 meters (4 feet) high. We have a dog, and 1.20 meters is definitely too low.
