Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for a way to open and close our garage door without using a key or remote control.

Options I’m aware of: smartphone app, keypad code entry.

I would prefer a solution via app, provided it offers sufficient security. Ideally, I would like to use a Hörmann system since I already have a Hörmann motor. However, their Bisecure Gateway has very poor reviews and seems unreliable.

Does anyone have a solution ready? What alternatives do you use?

Background: I spend most of my free time mountain biking and would rather not carry keys or a remote control with me.

Thanks and best regards,

Fingerprint scanner instead of a key switch.
I am aware of the evaluation of the Hörmann gateway and therefore don’t use one. Also (and this is my biggest issue with it) it necessarily communicates with a service provided by Hörmann. If Hörmann decides tomorrow to discontinue the web service, the gateway becomes useless.

I use a classic key switch, but there are also PIN code or fingerprint readers that send the appropriate signal to the motor.

I integrated it with Homematic. Potential-free wireless actuator and controllable via smartphone.

There are certainly other systems as well, usually cheaper than the Hörmann system, especially if you need additional functions.

Hörmann offers a wireless solution for wall mounting, which is more than sufficient.

However, it costs over 100 euros.
