anat79Hello everyone,
perhaps someone has a similar situation and can offer advice. I haven't been able to find much information on this or fully understand the product descriptions...
We are planning a garage door and a connecting door from the garage to the house.
The garage door should be able to be opened from the outside using a fingerprint scanner. The connecting door should then be opened with a separate fingerprint scanner to enter the house.
How could something like this be implemented? It would be great if it was a system where you can program time windows, like with Ekey Multi.
I assume Ekey Multi with 2 scanning units and a multi-control unit could work. Or is it more cost-effective to use 2 separate systems?
Or is there another system you would recommend?
Regarding door and garage door manufacturers, we have not yet made a decision.
Thanks for your help!

Hello anat79,
Ekey is definitely the right choice for you. Why not integrate the front door as well?
Even with 2-3 doors, I would recommend going with the server-based solution. Since you seem to come from an IT background, you probably already have a NAS running where you could set up a virtual machine.
The server solution offers many advantages. First, you get complete access logs. Enrolling fingerprints is easier because an external scanner can be used. You can create detailed schedules for individual users and groups.
If you don’t want this, then go with the multi-system option.
Best regards

cybergnom24 Nov 2018 13:30We basically have the same situation.
However, with KNX.
eKey Multi for the front door, garage, and connecting door.
But keep in mind that you should also use an electric strike lock for the connecting door...

cybergnom24 Nov 2018 19:17It will be integrated into KNX. To be honest, I (still) don’t know exactly how; our system integrator is planning that.
Hello rick2018 and cybergnom, thanks for your information, so I’m on the right track.
The server version is too much for us; we actually just want keyless entry and to be able to set a time window for the cleaner.
Originally, we wanted to equip the front door and the connecting door with fingerprint access so that we could enter keylessly both on foot and by car. We removed the motor lock and fingerprint from the front door for cost reasons. In the quotes we have received so far, they wanted an extra 1600-1800€ for that. That is why we thought it might be cheaper at the garage door since the motor is already there anyway... but we don’t have an offer for that yet.
Also, I think now we are missing the wiring at the front door. We asked what we need and were told only a separate power cable for the door is required. But you also need the connection from the reader unit to the control unit (which is located in the utility room?), or am I confused? Sorry for the maybe silly question...
cybergnom, may I ask what you are paying for the multi in this setup and what kind of connecting door you have?
Thanks!
