Hello everyone,

I’m new here and interested in hearing about experiences with the OMNEJD range hood.
Has anyone installed it yet? How loud is it on the lowest setting, or generally speaking?

I was actually considering a higher-quality range hood, but we really like the design, especially the storage compartment and the bars for hanging dish towels...

Higher quality? This thing already costs 600€...

Since the noise level rating is on the same level as the other models, I would assume this device is "normal noise."

Price-wise, the Omnejd is already top-tier; a Bosch DIB097A50 range hood offers significantly better performance and costs about the same.

Are there any brand-name units that look similar to the OMNEJD or FÖLJANDE hoods?

Exhaust air or recirculation: If I were you, I would also consider the cost of the carbon filters when deciding on recirculation, as opinions vary widely regarding what manufacturers charge for them.

Exhaust air / dB / m³
1/ 43.7 / 217
2/ 49 / 305
3/ 65.1 / 622

Recirculation / dB / m³
1/ 56.2 / 214
2/ 62.6 / 287
3/ 70.9 / 415

The exhaust air performance is specified by Ikea according to EN61591, including a 1.5 m (5 feet) hose (maximum diameter) with one 90° bend.

If possible, I want to use ducted ventilation, which is not so easy with an island setup... The exhaust should also be quieter.

BOSCH DIB097A50

Noise min./max. normal setting: 43/54 dB*

Airflow rate in exhaust mode according to EN 61591:
Max. normal setting 460 m³/h (270 cfm), intensive setting 730 m³/h (430 cfm)

Noise levels according to EN 60704-3 and EN 60704-2-13 in exhaust mode:
Max. normal setting: 54 dB(A) re 1 pW (40 dB(A) re 20 µPa sound pressure)
Intensive setting: 64 dB(A) re 1 pW (50 dB(A) re 20 µPa sound pressure)

That means, based on the data, the BOSCH model is quieter, but is the difference actually noticeable?
A difference of 10 dB corresponds roughly to double the perceived loudness.

Then take the Bosch, depending on the kitchen layout and duct cross-section. Direction changes should still deliver about 490-500 m³ to the wall box with the Bosch.

If you have an energy-saving standard, there may be restrictions on exhaust air, potentially making it impossible. You should clarify this if you haven’t done so yet.
