Good morning everyone,

We had the entire electrical system redone recently. The electrician has now finished installing a new distribution board, etc. However, there are two main power cables from the utility company: the low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) lines. The LV line is no longer needed, as we have also removed the night storage heaters that it was originally intended for.

My question is: Do I need to contact the electricity provider to disconnect the LV line? Maybe they will also want to install a new meter? I just don’t want them to be surprised later when nothing is being recorded on the meter. Otherwise, we were planning to simply read whatever we can at the next meter reading and see what happens.

I look forward to your answers.

Good luck

How many meters do you have now?

I have a meter. However, it shows peak and off-peak rates.

Shouldn't the electrician know this and possibly take care of it directly?

If he is not authorized to install meters, then he most likely does not know what to do either. In any case, you need to contact your utility provider to find out their procedure.

Exactly, he is not allowed to install a new one, so he wasn’t sure whether I need to inform the municipal utilities or not. That’s why I’m asking here. I will contact the supplier then. Thanks for your answers. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Good luck
