Hello forum,

I have water damage on the living room ceiling caused by a section of the facade that was not properly sealed. Rain got in. The cause has been fixed.
However, the construction company (a developer) simply re-mortared the area, even though black mold was visible on the insulation.
Is the mold dangerous or a concern? The company says it’s fine because it’s only a small amount and only on the outer side of the insulation. Is this correct, or should I have the insulation replaced?

Attached is a photo of the mold and insulation.

At first, it looks bad. But I wonder, and I ask you, what is supposed to happen? What damage can the mold cause? Can it penetrate inside? I don’t think so. And couldn’t you just spray Danklorix on it to kill it? Then it’s dead, completely dead, Danklorix will take care of it.

I don’t know if the mold stays only on the outer side of the insulation, so that I don’t have to breathe it in unnoticed all the time. If it’s not dangerous, then that’s okay. But I just don’t know. And of course, the construction company says it’s not a problem. But they’re probably not the best source for that. 🙄
