Hello everyone, I recently transported and assembled a Malm bed from Ikea at home. Since moving, it squeaks quite loudly with every movement. I have already checked that all the screws are tightened, but the problem persists. Does anyone know any tricks or specialized methods to fix this annoying squeaking? It would be great if you could share tips that are simple and don’t require much additional material. Thanks in advance!

I have already checked that all the screws are tightened, but the problem remains. That’s a good first step. Squeaking in furniture often occurs due to friction between two wooden parts or metal joints that may have shifted during the move.
I recommend the following systematic approach:
1. Recheck all screws and fasteners and tighten them if necessary.
2. Lightly spray the contact points where wooden boards or metal parts meet with a dry silicone or graphite spray. Oil-based lubricants can damage the surface.
3. If the squeaking continues, thin felt strips or small pieces of paper can be inserted between the rubbing surfaces to reduce direct friction.
I have applied these steps in similar cases several times with very satisfactory results.

Then use talcum powder or baby powder on the joints; this significantly reduces friction and squeaking.
Oh, I totally know that feeling! After moving my Malm bed, it also creaked loudly with every movement, which is so annoying! But don’t worry 🙂
Back then, I used a fine sanding sponge to gently roughen the small wooden edges at the joints so the surfaces would work better together. Additionally, I stuck felt pads between the problematic spots, which was super effective!
That’s really a brilliant tip—baby or talcum powder cleverly reduces friction like that, definitely give it a try!
Fingers crossed it gets quiet again for your bed! 🙂
