Hello everyone,

we are a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of lighting options, as it’s been quite difficult to find something suitable.

In the living and dining area, we have 6 wall lights, in the ground floor hallway another 4, and 2 on each stair landing.

At least in the living/dining area, I would like to have matching lamps, but I wouldn’t mind if all the lamps were the same.

In the hallway, we also have downlights installed in the concrete ceiling, in the living room there is a ceiling outlet, and of course there is lighting at the dining table, so none of the lamps necessarily need to be for bright, festive lighting.

It’s important that all of them (except possibly on the stairs) are dimmable, and ideally use replaceable bulbs – but that’s not a requirement.

We would really appreciate a few tips.

@Vanben:

Thanks for the tip, we had already found that as well, but it’s really too specialized.

I imagine that having 6 burners in the living-dining area would somehow look like a junkyard.

We have gotten used to the sockets (we also have difficulties with the light fixtures)

I’m not sure how your connections are arranged, but how about using indirect lighting instead?

This way, the actual fixture doesn’t matter much, and you could use anything from simple sockets and fluorescent tubes to LEDs:

Black wall shelf with two twisted white candles, backlit, calming living room decoration.

Wooden board leaning against the wall; LED light strip runs along the edge, illuminating the wall.

Large rectangular wall panel with LED lighting on the wall; sculpture at the bottom right.

We came up with a makeshift solution for the wall outlets in the living room that surprisingly looks quite good. We had bought white plaster wall lamps for the staircase (30 € each), but were a bit confused by the lamp holder type (G9 -.-). We have now placed these lamps on our cabinets in the living room and connected them to the wall outlets. When they are off, they are almost invisible since they are the same color as the wall and positioned at the back of the cabinet; when turned on, they provide nice ambient lighting – the best part is: I didn’t even have to drill.

A friend of mine had a good experience when he went to a professional lighting designer and shared his concerns... The price is certainly not comparable to buying cheap online, but the result was really excellent (he also had some indirect lighting installed on the side).

I ordered many lamps online from funkelhaus. By the way, the recommendation originally came from this forum.
We have a total of six wall lamps in the hallways. They look a bit like a straight stainless steel croissant, casting light both upwards and downwards. The light is very pleasant and creates nice shadow patterns. Cost per lamp: 22.00 €. However, they are not dimmable, but the bulbs are replaceable.
These lamps are also available in clay, which you can paint yourself.
