Hello everyone!
Here is the current situation:
The Kallax shelf back there in the niche is only a temporary solution.
I would like to have something different there. The Kallax just fits in exactly. The width I have is about 155cm (61 inches), and the height is about the same as the Kallax (around 77cm (30 inches)).
I would prefer a shelf, chest of drawers, or side table that is a bit lower than the current one. It can have some open compartments for towels but may also partially have doors.
I can hardly find anything in the 150–155cm (59–61 inches) width range. Everything I find is either too short (for example, 120cm (47 inches)) or too long (160cm (63 inches) doesn’t fit).
Do you have any ideas what would fit well there? Preferably something from that big Swedish store or other online shops, any tip is much appreciated. 🙂

Thank you very much, it looks really nice. I like it a lot.
I always find that walls like Tylco or Mycs probably have the most impressive effect on a large surface. I wonder if that will work well in my small bathroom niche?
I also looked into the Metod option again, which might actually be a good solution. I could fit two 60cm (24 inch) units and a 30cm (12 inch) one, totaling 150cm (59 inches), which fits quite well.
We also considered going with the Besta system, but then we’d only have a 120cm (47 inch) dresser and would place the laundry basket next to it.
120x60cm (47x24 inch) is still decent, and for the towels, we’d simply sort out the old ones—we’d want a new set sooner or later anyway. This would be the minimum storage space if we reduce some bathroom items.
I actually find the 120x40cm (47x16 inch) Besta visually even nicer; you could put an attractive countertop on top and still have room for feet, but that definitely doesn’t offer enough storage space.

Be careful with the dimensions of Ikea products; it’s best to double-check them in-store.
I had a 3.20m (10 ft 6 in) alcove built in the dressing room for two 1.60m (5 ft 3 in) wide Malm dressers, only to find out that the dressers are actually 1.604m (5 ft 3 in) wide and the tops are 1.608m (5 ft 3 in) wide 🙄
The carcasses (or boxes?) fit with a bit of effort, but I had to replace the tops with a countertop.

The carcases (or cabinets?) went in with a bit of convincing, but I had to replace the tops with a worktop.

We had a similar issue with Nordli—the units were slightly wider than stated and simply didn’t fit in our niche. They’ve now been repurposed as a coat and seating bench, which works well.
Hehe... I didn’t even know about your original post with the furnished bathroom.
It already looks quite lived-in.
Regarding Besta: I just happened to order a base frame for two 60/64 cm (24/25 inches) units, where you can place two cabinets side by side 😉 I’m happy to share the supplier’s info.
About the towels, I don’t quite get your problem: invest a hundred once, and you’ll have 2-3 bath towels, 6-8 hand towels, and four washcloths all in ONE color, so even when they’re out in the open, they give a neat overall impression. And where’s the best place to store them or what in the bathroom is made for that? Of course, the pedestals. Stacked or rolled fluffy towels are honestly the best bathroom accessory for interior design… only then does it look furnished (Pinterest-style :p).
Edit: By the way, I think your Kallax fits perfectly there. The white version is just a bit friendlier in that dark corner. The mycs modules would just be a replacement, nothing more,

I have now decided on a shelf from Tylco for the niche, attracted by a discount code.
Instead of the Kallax currently there (which is so old it still has the Expedit name). What mainly bothers me is the dark color in an otherwise rather bright bathroom (except for the brown vanity cabinet). Also, it looks quite worn and scratched up close.
The Tylco unit has the advantage that a) it is not slightly too tall like the Kallax, but actually a few centimeters shorter than the wall, so it stops below the slope. I find that visually more appealing. Also, it is only 32 cm deep (13 inches) instead of 40 cm (16 inches), so it doesn’t stick out on the side. You can’t really see that detail in the original post, but visually it’s a bit distracting. The Kallax is just a bit too tall and too deep, while also slightly too narrow in width. The new Tylco shelf looks similar but should fit better because its height, width, and depth are exactly right for the niche. We’re very excited; it should arrive in May.
I agree with you, I would like decorative towels left out to create a cozy atmosphere. However, for the past six months I haven’t been able to decide on a manufacturer. I keep returning to Vossen / Möve, but they’re too expensive for me. Then I go to Erwin Müller, but I can’t find a towel there that looks as good to me as the more expensive ones. Recently, I found some at Depot that I like visually, but there are no reviews at all and I don’t know if they’re any good.
This kind of shopping would be easier in person when stores reopen. Buying towels during Corona has proven to be quite difficult.

Vossen and Möve are sometimes available on Ventee, currently even Vossen. The sale started this morning, so maybe you can still grab some nice ones. I bought towels there before my move and still have them in the shower toilet—they’re still looking good.
In the end, last year I bought the super-soft towels at Möbel Kraft using vouchers (30€ back on a 90€ purchase).
