Hello!

We are currently planning our new build and, of course, are now considering different types of flooring.

I am still looking for a suitable floor covering for the bedroom, study, and children's room, and during my search, I came across linoleum parquet. I should mention that we have two dogs, and it is important to me that the floor is easy to clean, durable, and especially that dust mites, bacteria, and the like cannot settle in it. Tiles would naturally be a good option here, but they feel too cold for me, especially in the children's room.

As I said, the manufacturers’ descriptions sound very promising. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Good luck

Hello mandler,
Linoleum is a good choice; it is durable, almost indestructible, and available in various surface finishes.
We had linoleum installed in the floorboard area, solid black; thanks to the slight sheen of the surface, it doesn’t appear dark. With solid-color linoleum, you should be aware that scratches (e.g., from dog claw marks, small stones in shoe soles, sand from children’s shoes) are visible but not permanent. In general, linoleum is resistant to mechanical and chemical stresses, so deformations like pressure marks tend to disappear after some time.

Linoleum is antistatic, slightly fungicidal, and inhibits bacterial growth. Maintenance nowadays involves using a regular alkaline-free cleaner, mopping with lukewarm water that is only slightly damp, and occasionally applying a wax-based care product.

I can only share my experiences now. I have recently had linoleum installed as well, and I have to say, I like it. At first, I was worried about cleanliness, but that turned out not to be a problem. There are good cleaning products available that are not harsh, and they keep everything clean.

We have linoleum in the kitchen and can also confirm that it is very durable. There is a lot of activity in the kitchen, and the level of dirt is quite high. However, so far I have been able to clean everything completely.

Unfortunately, I'm not really fond of linoleum. To me, it’s like PVC, and I prefer not to have that in my house. I'd rather go with parquet or laminate flooring.

But if there are dogs in the household, then both hardwood flooring and laminate are completely unsuitable. Alternatively, you need a lot of time to sand down the scratches from the dogs on the hardwood floor and reseal it. The laminate already looks worn and unattractive after a short time.

So, in this case, PVC flooring is definitely the best option.
