Hello everyone,

What experiences have you had with PVC flooring?
I want to install a luxury vinyl floor in the bathroom.
From what I have read so far, an online supplier offers the desired flooring with a 0.3mm (0.01 inch) wear layer. How important is the thickness of the wear layer?

Thank you very much for your input.

I have not heard of a wear layer for PVC flooring before. I only know this concept from laminate and parquet floors. PVC flooring is already a thick covering.

We have just installed laminate flooring, and there are different usage classes depending on how the laminate is used. Our laminate is 8mm (5/16 inch) thick and can withstand heavy wear.

Then you got that just right. I prefer hardwood flooring, and that’s the term used there. Even hardwood flooring has different wear classes. I’m not a fan of vinyl flooring.

Hello,
No thanks, I really prefer hardwood flooring over PVC. Engineered hardwood offers a wonderful surface, and I install it myself. When properly maintained, it lasts a long time.

I also think PVC flooring is outdated. The amount of maintenance is too high for me, as it requires constant mopping.

Best regards

Alright, we have PVC flooring in the kitchen. It still needs to last for some time before we replace it with something new. I find this flooring quite good for the kitchen, especially when there are children in the house, as more dirt tends to accumulate. I can always clean this PVC floor easily.

Yes, we also have PVC flooring in the kitchen. Basically, it’s not bad, but it’s already showing its age. What I particularly like is that this PVC flooring is quick to clean. Especially with children in the house, the wear and tear can be significant. PVC flooring is also much more affordable compared to laminate or hardwood flooring.
