Hello everyone,

we have a concrete staircase that was simply poorly cast. The tread doesn't fit properly, and the steps themselves are not optimal at the beginning and end considering today's floor construction.
How would you level the staircase? Applying a formwork and pouring screed, or for example using Wedi panels?
One tiler recommended using Wedi, another suggested forming and pouring screed.
I find the Wedi option more appealing. What is your opinion or experience?

Wedi is faster but it always sounds like the tiles are hollow. How many centimeters (inches) are we talking about per step?

The top structure would be 6cm (2.4 inches). However, the tread surface also needs to be deeper; I think it should be built up between 2 to 3cm (0.8 to 1.2 inches) toward the front edge. Do you think that works for wedi?

Should the step be 6cm (2.4 inches) higher for all steps? And the riser (in your case the front face) + 2-3 cm (1–1.2 inches)? Then glue 5 cm (2 inches) thick Wedi boards onto the step and skim coat the riser. What kind of covering will actually be applied on top?

Filling? With which material? Tile adhesive? 2–3cm (1–1¼ inches)? Tiles will be installed on top. Thanks in advance!

There is a fast-setting filler from Ardex called Ardex A 46.
