We are currently preparing to carry out the landscaping work around the house, and since we have a rainwater tank, I want to lay the water pipe from the tank to several tap points at the same time. In our specific situation, the pipe needs to run around the house in order to irrigate both the front yard (near the tank) and the main backyard.
Is there any technical, practical, or logical reason not to install the water pipe (DN32, PE100 RC planned) within the eaves strip?
This strip will be excavated anyway and follows roughly the ideal route for the water pipe. The trench will be about 60 to 80 cm (24 to 31 inches) deep, probably half-filled with sand, with a filter fabric and gravel on top. So I could lay the water pipe directly on the trench bottom and avoid the extra work of digging a second trench.
Or is this a really bad idea?

and of course save me the extra effort of digging a second trench.
Or is that a really stupid idea? That's a good idea, as this way there is no pathway over the pipes in case you need access later.B
