In the Bremen area, I have seen many beautiful plastered facades (many with stucco, from the Gründerzeit period), also in Oldenburg and Holstein. So brick facing is certainly more common than in the Rhine Valley, but not exclusive. At least not in the sense of “North – only genuine with brick.” The country doctor's house in “Deekelsen” is also plastered white, with a dark green door.

I would probably go for a reddish clinker brick myself, either the classic style or the one pictured (and linked above) which I also really like. In my opinion, it’s a very attractive clinker brick, especially when combined with gray windows.
