I was wondering if there is a truly optimal order for assembling the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe that makes the process easier or saves time. I’m especially interested in whether it makes sense to assemble certain parts first and others later, such as the back panel or the drawers. Additionally, I’d like to know if it makes a difference whether you build it alone or with two people. Does anyone have a clear, tested strategy or tips that really help avoid common mistakes? I would appreciate a structured response, preferably including key steps that shouldn’t be skipped.

Start with the carcass, meaning the side panels and base parts. Assemble the drawers separately and only install them once the carcass is in place. The back panel is installed last, as it provides overall stability.

I was wondering if there is a truly optimal sequence for assembling the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe that makes the process easier or saves time.

In general, I recommend starting with the base, meaning the carcass, because it provides the necessary stability. Begin by assembling the large side panels and the bottom panel. After that, you can attach the back panel, which adds lateral stability.

I am especially interested in whether it makes sense to assemble certain parts first and others only at the end, for example the back panel or the drawers.

It’s better to assemble the drawers separately, fully put together, and then install them into the carcass at the very end. This avoids working in tight inner spaces. Although it is theoretically possible to assemble everything together, this often results in damaged parts or difficulties with alignment.

Also, I would like to know if there is a difference depending on whether you build alone or with two people.

With two people it is definitely easier, as assembling large parts like the side panels works better when one person holds them while the other screws them in. When working alone, sometimes additional supports or a workboard are needed. If you are working alone, please allow more time and take calm, careful steps.

If you like, I can also put together a short checklist summarizing the most important points.

Here is a structured guide that has proven effective for many:

- First, connect the two side panels with the bottom and top parts. Make sure all holes are perfectly aligned.
- In the second step, attach the back panel, but do not fully nail or screw it down yet – leave some room for adjustments with the other parts.
- Assemble the drawers completely separately: insert all slides and check their smooth operation.
- Once all drawers are finished, install them into the cabinet. Check the drawer fronts for proper alignment.
- Then, finally secure the back panel to ensure the cabinet remains stable.

Common mistakes include fixing the back panel immediately, which can cause problems when inserting the drawers. It is also advisable to initially tighten all screws by hand and only fully tighten them at the very end.

This approach not only makes assembly easier but also prevents damage and facilitates adjustments.
