Hello everyone, I recently bought the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe and I’m wondering if there is any kind of guide or special method to assemble it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Of course, I have the standard assembly instructions that come with the product, but they are quite general and not necessarily designed to optimize time.
I’m interested to know if anyone here has experience or tips on how to speed up the assembly process – for example, certain steps that can be combined or reprioritized, tools that can shorten the procedure, or common pitfalls to avoid.
Is there perhaps an optimized step-by-step guide or practical tips for the Brimnes wardrobe beyond the usual instructions? How long did it usually take you to assemble it?
I’m looking forward to constructive suggestions and experience reports, thanks in advance!

Do you think it’s effective to divide the construction into specific phases where some kind of quality check should be done after each section?Yes, I think that makes a lot of sense. Especially when working alone, small progress checks help to stay motivated and spot problems early.
I always follow these phases:
- Assemble the basic frame including side walls
- Secure the back wall and base
- Install door and drawer frames
- Final assembly of drawers and doors, including adjustment
After each phase, I check stability and alignment so that small mistakes become more noticeable. There’s no shame in taking a bit more time, but this helps avoid stressful rework later on.

Not necessarily to share here, but for your own reference. This way, you can quickly identify any deviations from the building plan.
One more tip: Don’t fully tighten the screws immediately. Instead, as Luke44 already mentioned, start by loosely fitting all screws at once—similar to how you would fit all the wheels on a car before tightening them completely.
This allows you to adjust the furniture piece during assembly and ensures precise fits, which ultimately saves time and frustration.
