Good morning everyone,

We have a new build that we hope to move into in September, if everything goes well. Unfortunately, we still need to decide on the flooring. We would like to have parquet installed in the living and dining rooms. Since we have underfloor heating, my husband prefers it to be glued down. Yesterday, we went to a home improvement store and found a parquet that we liked, which is even in stock (which is quite rare at the moment). However, the salesperson said that this parquet, due to its "fold-down" installation method, is not suitable for gluing.

Our flooring installer is on vacation, and we are a bit unsure. Can anyone tell us if parquet with this "fold-down" installation method really cannot be glued down and must be installed as a floating floor instead?

Thanks for your answers!

It seems you were advised by a real conifer expert (is that what specialists are called?).
Why shouldn't that work? It should actually be much easier than click-lock laminate flooring. Don’t worry about it. This is even something suitable for relaxed DIY projects.

Hello questioner.
Basically, the installation method of a flooring element does not matter. Therefore, no definitive conclusion can be drawn from the term "fold-down" installation type. What is crucial are solely the manufacturer’s specifications, which can be found on the outer packaging of the flooring elements.
If the hardware store advisor has read these and passed on the information that the flooring type should only be installed as a floating floor, you should definitely follow this advice.
Not every element’s backside allows for full-surface gluing!
So take another look at the packaging in the hardware store and look for the corresponding note on the packaging!
Best regards and wish you a trouble-free installation: KlaRa

At least the building supply store recommends Lugato parquet adhesive for their own brand. That is already a strong indication that gluing might be possible 😉

Regarding the previous responses, the following:

"Fritzle" had mentioned in his initial post that "he liked a parquet floor that is even in stock."
There was no indication of the manufacturer or the specific type of parquet.
However, he would like to glue it down over the entire surface, which certainly makes sense with underfloor heating.
I then wrote that the method of installation is not decisive for the possibility of gluing down a particular type of parquet, which we still do not know, but only the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Now, another response appears, "At least the hardware store recommends Lugato parquet adhesive for its own brand. That is already a strong indication that gluing down is possible."
Then I have to ask where (for this reply from "Benutzer200") the background knowledge comes from regarding which specific type of parquet this statement refers to? In this forum, no such information was given.
A hardware store recommends Lugato parquet adhesive for its own private label. Did the questioner "Fritzle" actually say he intended to buy a private label from the hardware store? Does the hardware store’s statement actually refer to the parquet that "Fritzle" likes?
NO!
Because in his initial post, after he found his preferred parquet, he clearly wrote:
"However, the salesperson at the hardware store said that this parquet is not suitable for gluing down because of its ‘fold-down’ installation method."
My question now to "Benutzer200":
If the salesperson clearly denies the possibility to glue down the parquet selected by "Fritzle," why do you write, contradicting the acquaintance, that the hardware store recommends LUGATO adhesives for its own brands, and that this general information is therefore (contrary to the hardware store advisor’s statements) an indication that the selected parquet can actually be glued down?
@Benutzer200:
In this forum, besides serious answers, only those should be posted that are useful to the questioner, do not contradict each other, and do not lead them into an obvious trap!

The thread starter had initially linked the parquet flooring. It seems that @Benutzer200 still saw it. According to the forum rules, however, the link has probably been removed by now, and the user possibly as well.
