ᐅ Is building insurance for a garage necessary?

Hello everyone,
my name is Marc, I’m from the beautiful NRW region and I have a hobby: cars.
To accommodate all of them, I have garages here and there, mostly in existing properties, homeowners’ associations...
Recently, I bought another garage built in 1970, renovated it inside and out, and reroofed it.
So far, this garage is unfortunately not insured, at least not for the building itself.
My contents insurance would probably cover basic belongings, but it only contains my car.
Of course, I have private liability insurance, as well as landlord insurance.
Now I’d like to add this garage to the building insurance policy of my house, which is about 400m (440 yards) away as the crow flies.
However, according to the insurance agent, this isn’t possible. They offered me a new building insurance policy covering my garage for €120 per year.
I actually find that quite steep, since not much could really happen. But they told me there is apparently a minimum premium.
So I have the following question, which I never asked myself with any of my other properties: do I actually need building insurance for this garage?
Or is my insurance just being “complicated”?
I’m a bit stuck here. It’s not that I couldn’t afford the €120 per year, but is it really worth it?
Maybe you have some advice for me?
Best regards and thanks,
Marc

Damage caused by the garage? The garage doesn’t harm anyone.

I wouldn’t pay 120 euros for it. What big risk could there really be?

Hello everyone,
maybe I am overcomplicating things?
Let’s say, for example, that during a storm the parapet wall comes loose and falls onto a car... or someone gets injured at my garage door.
My concern is more about building liability, which is usually included in a building insurance policy.
If my personal liability insurance would cover this (which I honestly can’t imagine), then I probably wouldn’t need a separate policy. By the way, I don’t understand what is meant by the post "Precast concrete garage and roof newly covered. I don’t get it" either!
Best regards,
Marc

Isn't something like this usually covered by personal liability insurance?

Only for the property where you live. Not for the garage 400m (1,312 ft) away.
