Hello everyone,
I want to install a steel door in the garage, but it will not lead into the living area; it will lead into the utility room where the heat pump is located.
There is no access from this utility room to the rest of the adjacent living unit.
According to the plan, however, the utility room is considered part of the living space.
The wall (inside the garage) where the door is to be installed is therefore the exterior wall of the house.
At least, this wall has been insulated with 20cm (8 inches) of wood fiber insulation, inside the garage. The wall construction from the outside consists of 10cm (4 inches) of solid wood panel (BSP) plus 20cm (8 inches) of wood fiber insulation.
I hope this makes sense.
Attached is an excerpt from the construction plan.
My questions:
1. Do I need a T30 fire-rated door here? I live in Rhineland-Palatinate if that is relevant.
2. Can I use a corner frame here because of the 20cm (8 inches) insulation (marked in red) into the 10cm (4 inches) solid wood, or do I have to use a block frame?
Best regards,
titoz
