ᐅ Insulating a Garage Roof: Correct Order of Installation

I have now had three contractors come to seal our garage roof, and I have received three different opinions and price quotes.

For a 6x6 meter (20x20 feet) garage, the prices range from 1400 to 3800 euros.

I just want a watertight garage that doesn’t develop mold inside.

What is the correct method for sealing a garage roof?

Are two layers of bitumen enough?

Is a layer of insulation required in between?

Is a vapor barrier needed?

How was it done in your case?

Where did I go wrong? You talk about "your cars roaring," and the A4 itself is like a heating oil Ferrari. Then you backtrack and say you weren’t even talking about the A4. Ouch! In your eyes, I wrote nonsense, fine. But since you’ve been exposed as a "blabbermouth," now you’re starting to flounder.

Why should you care about engine displacement? Well, displacement can’t be replaced by anything except even more displacement, right? Heard that before? Even the V6 TDI with the old Common Rail system and E2O injection was a sewing machine. But maybe you should familiarize yourself with it before giving others smart tips.

But let’s drop it now—we’re not on a car forum here, and this thread isn’t the place to cover your automotive shortcomings!

P.S. Good luck with your googling

What exactly is your point? I’m definitely not avoiding admitting a mistake—I have no problem acknowledging one. I said "my big engines," and I certainly don’t count the one in the Audi as part of that... as you yourself have recognized, it’s not big. I had other vehicles that generated a lot of heat (waste heat). I generally don’t include many passenger car diesels in that category...

I also responded to your (derogatory) remark that it’s a 4-cylinder. After that, I received several replies that became increasingly evasive and insulting.

By the way, I was referring to the smoothness of operation when I mentioned the sewing machine—and not the fuel injection or the very noticeable knocking in the old V6 diesel engine. Even so, the V6 runs smoother than a 4-cylinder.

But again, here I was met only with assumptions and essentially insults… is it because I didn’t respond to you anymore back then? I just noticed again that I still owed you a reply...

Anyway, I don’t need to be treated rudely and without reason by someone like you on this level. Have a nice weekend.

I don’t know where you owe an answer. But honestly, I wasn’t really missing one either.

Still, I agree with you on one point: the V6 is superior to the 4-cylinder and always the better choice.
It wasn’t my intention to insult you. But as the saying goes, “What you give is what you get.” If you like to throw provocation around, you should also be able to handle it. Maybe you should reflect on how you come across here. With your sometimes arrogant, know-it-all attitude, you’ve already rubbed some people the wrong way in this forum.

Have a great weekend too.

You asked me for more pictures of my house.

And WHERE exactly did I lash out at you in our conversation? Sorry, your nonsense only had one purpose – and you made that quite clear.

I’m not going to twist myself – I am who I am, and if someone takes things the wrong way and doesn’t ask for clarification, that’s their problem. After all, everyone here is an adult… mostly.

Congratulations on that attitude.

@tabtab and @Sebastian79

If you want to play around, fine. But please find another place to do so, otherwise I will have to close this thread, as @Mycraft has already done.

You’re right – I got carried away there. Sorry, Bauexperte.
