Hello Forum,

we have concrete ceilings with a height of 2.80 meters (9 feet 2 inches) and would like to hang curtains on window fronts about 3.80 meters (12 feet 6 inches) wide. We have already tried several methods. First with a metal rail, then with a two-part plastic track. None of these solutions have worked well so far. The curtains did not slide properly and got stuck in the track, etc. We have probably just not used good components.

Can someone give me advice on how to do this “properly” so that the curtains slide easily and glide as quietly as possible? It would also be good if the rail or track is very narrow, so it is not too visible on the ceiling.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

For example, take a look at Silentgliss. There are many good manufacturers. Your issues seem more related to cheap components...

Even if you don’t believe it, IKEA offers some at a good price. We still have the old version made of aluminum with rollers in the track. As far as I know, the new ones are only available in white.

We included Ikea in our previous solutions, but unfortunately, it did not work well for us. It was very difficult to handle and noisy.

They have rollers in the track, so they run smoothly, at least for the sliding curtains.

What would you prefer?
Mounting on the wall or ceiling?
Rails or rods?
Loops or rollers/gliders or panel curtains for sliding?
One or two/three levels?
