ᐅ Retrofitting a Bathtub – Any Experiences?

Hello everyone,

I’m hoping you can help me before I hire a plumber. It’s about an apartment where the bathroom currently has a shower with a shower tray. Now I would like to add a bathtub to the bathroom. Are there ways to do this without having to remove all the tiles?

A drain pipe and a water line for the faucet will be needed.

Or is it not as bad as I imagine, meaning the bathroom won’t be completely ruined or require a huge amount of extra work? What are your experiences?

Best regards

I was hoping that at least a sewage pump could be used to, for example, push the wastewater into the shower drain, and maybe something could be done with the shower’s water connections. But well, that’s why I’m asking as a layperson in advance 😉

Can anyone roughly say what kind of costs to expect? An inexpensive bathtub, pipe installation, demolition/renovation, and labor? Is it possible to estimate roughly? Between 1000-2000 Euros?

Between 1000–2000 euros? Yes, for the tiler, the plumber will charge about the same again...
But: Without pictures or sketches, this is just guesswork. A bit more information will make everyone happier.

I will look for pictures/sketches later.

Would it be possible to direct the wastewater into the shower using a flexible drain hose? Assuming the wastewater outlet is higher than the shower tray?
