Hello,

I bought three white Ingolf chairs about a week ago and a fourth one this week. I already noticed the packaging cardboard was lighter for the last one.

And indeed, the chair has been modified in detail:

All non-visible parts are no longer painted (for example, the underside of the seat and the inner sides of the side rails), previously it was entirely white.
The crescent-shaped washers are no longer made of milky plastic but of metal.
The paint layer seems thinner; all gaps and fitting inaccuracies (especially around the crossbar of the backrest) are no longer filled with paint but visible (which doesn’t look very neat).
The shade of white is slightly different!!! This chair actually has a different white tone (could this be related to the suspected thinner paint layer?).

What should I do? Return the Ingolf chair and ask for an older version? How does it work with furniture that is already assembled? Is it possible to exchange the Ingolf chairs?

IKEA offers exchanges outside of warranty cases only for products that are still in their original packaging.

Besides that, it is likely to be difficult for you to obtain an "older" model. I understand your frustration, but once a supplier has changed its production, even IKEA can no longer get hold of previous product versions. It’s a bit of a silly comparison, but it’s like trying to order a new Golf Mk3 from VW, even though, for various reasons, it might suit you better.

Yes, I understand. It just annoys me that I chose this light-colored box, especially since there were also a few dented boxes with darker cardboard lying around... frustrating. I certainly didn’t expect that.
