fotokatze8 Nov 2011 08:13Hello IKEA fans,
I need a Faktum cabinet carcass, width 80 cm (31.5 inches), height 70 cm (27.6 inches), but with a smaller depth than the "standard" 37 cm (14.6 inches) as it is usually offered. There used to be a version with 28 cm (11 inches) depth. I have already searched other ranges from living room and bedroom furniture without success.
Otherwise, my only option would be to modify a carcass with a saw, but I would prefer to use a finished product.
Does anyone have a tip from the current IKEA range for me or happen to have such a carcass with a smaller depth available?
Thanks!

Thank you for your effort. Billy was no longer on my radar at all! But unfortunately, it just doesn’t fit! As you already mentioned, it’s too tall!
I have to consider trimming it, but that probably won’t be easy since the connectors are in the frame...
We’ll see. If I manage to finish it, I will report back on how I did it.
Thanks again. Best regards, fotokatze

Hello,
I have already shortened a cabinet carcass in depth several times myself!
You need a 15mm (5/8 inch) drill bit for the connectors and a circular saw—preferably a track saw—and you can use the cut-off piece as a template. Also, have drill bits for metal and wooden dowels.
It’s a bit tedious but it works. Simply attach the back panel with nails; this way you can see the panel from the side, or you can solve this issue by using a finished side panel.
