Hi,
I am trying to estimate how much time it will take to paint 650m² (7000 sq ft) of wall. There are two of us, both complete beginners and poorly equipped. Does anyone have experience with this? I need to request time off...

Eltis.. Then remember to report the labor hours to the construction workers’ compensation insurance.
The wall is smooth if you have completed a Q3 finish.
Unfortunately, you will get settlement cracks on the walls after some time.
If it’s smooth, I would recommend applying painter’s fleece wallpaper first.

Settlement cracks are inevitable! Fleece and wallpaper not only cover settlement cracks but also other cracks, which you would ideally want to identify and assess during the warranty period.
That’s why, in the first few years, I would only paint and avoid using wallpaper or fleece.

Eltis.. Then remember BG Bau and record the helper hours. BG Bau does not insure immediate family members anyway. But what I’m curious about is this: painting is really one of the last trades on the construction site. When does the BG Bau requirement apply? After the acceptance with the property developer or never? If in two years I want to do some painting again and get a friend to help, do I have to notify BG Bau again? Who actually does that? No one, right?

There are different Q-levels for plaster, right... Do you have better than Q2? Good question. I need to ask the site manager. We only agreed with him that we could paint the walls right after.
Did we get taken advantage of again? I’m meeting with the site manager today, and if that’s the case, he’ll be grilled right away...
Not if these are voluntary services provided by close relatives or very good friends.
Just do some research online… there are cases where, for example, someone insured their father for 50 hours of work on a construction site with the statutory accident insurance (BG Bau). When an accident occurred afterward, BG Bau refused to pay and won in court citing the “voluntary service” argument (even though they accepted the payments!). There are several such cases, so certain payments can definitely be aligned with these rulings.
