Hi,
I am trying to estimate how much time it will take to paint 650m² (7000 sq ft) of wall. There are two of us, both complete beginners and poorly equipped. Does anyone have experience with this? I need to request time off...

If you need insurance, then take out a private policy. It doesn’t cost a fortune. I would have done it if we had done more than just stick wallpaper on the walls. A company handled the stairwell, and usually nothing happens in the rooms...

There are different Q levels for plaster finishes... Do you have better than Q2?

So, I asked again. We only have Q2. The site manager said that before the painter comes, it’s not worth smoothing the walls any further. Someone is always bumping into them, and no one admits to it.

Basically, I’m not that picky about having perfectly smooth walls. But if there are obvious mistakes or ugly streaks right in front of me, I would want to have them sanded smooth again (or have someone do it). I would like to do it myself. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it doable? We’re not completely unskilled, though of course we’re amateurs. Fixing up a bit can’t be that hard, right?

That’s why I’m asking. Q2 is the standard... we have it too.
However, we will only be painting. And I won’t have any issue if the wall looks like plaster rather than a smooth finish.
In our older property, we once scraped off the wallpaper on the ground floor. The substrate dates back to a time when wallpaper was the standard. And it’s good enough for me. There are no dents or imperfections.
I think if you let the plasterer know that you only want to paint, they will still put effort into achieving a Q2 finish – at least, that’s what I hope.

Has anyone here ever had experience with spray painting in this context? When painting an entire house, it might be worthwhile.

Then you need good paint and must tape off everything. Otherwise, the spray mist will settle everywhere. I used it in a room once, then returned the equipment. I preferred using a roller. The result didn’t convince me because the paint had to be thinned too much.

It is always helpful for everyone using the search function when threads are also closed. So Kaho, looking back, what conclusions can you draw? (I was actually just searching because I wanted to know which type of roller is recommended.)
