Hello everyone, our house is slowly taking shape, and we are now considering how to finish the walls. Originally, we thought about applying felt plaster to the walls. However, our construction manager advised against it. Considering the expected settlement cracks, he recommended covering the walls with painter’s fleece and then painting them. Does anyone have experience with this?

How the wall is finished—whether smooth or with wallpaper—is a matter of personal preference. In our case, the plasterers did an exceptionally good job, in my opinion. Although the contract specifies only Q2 level finish, there are no waves, and there is no need for full-surface skim coating. Occasionally, there is a small blemish, which they are even willing to repair if it gets bumped, and then you could leave it as is and just paint over it. In terms of style, I lean toward fine fleece plaster. I would use fabric only because of the cracks.

I don’t believe that; although it partly depends on the fleece (thickness, smoothness). Exactly, if you use high-quality fleece and not just any random one, and the painter is skilled, the wall will look beautifully smooth... on a Q2 surface...

then the wall looks wonderfully smooth...with Q2 substrate... In raking light? I have a different opinion, but no more arguments.
