How long should you wait to start painting after plastering and after the screed has been laid? The screed was done 3 1/2 weeks ago, and the plastering was completed 5 1/2 weeks ago. The underfloor heating’s heating-up program has been running for one week. The rooms are now ventilated twice a day by fully opening the windows, which probably doesn't help much in the current cold and damp weather. The indoor humidity is currently around 80%. The floor tiles were installed immediately on the fresh screed. The wall tiles are being installed this week. All tiles are scheduled to be grouted by next week at the latest. How long should one wait before starting the painting work?

Has the new building ever been exposed to a construction dehumidifier?

No. If you wait through spring and summer, won’t it dry out by itself then?

You can certainly wait to start the painting work until after spring/summer. By then, everything will have naturally dried (assuming proper ventilation), and the painter can begin.

Just to clarify. The tiles were laid directly on the fresh and unheated screed without measuring the moisture? What surface area are we talking about here? Do you have a special screed? With a drying accelerator?

Don’t you have to wipe the condensed water off the windows every day?
