Hello everyone,

I own several pieces of furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series and am currently facing the problem that our floor is not entirely level. This causes the furniture to wobble, which of course is not ideal for stability and long-term use. Therefore, I would like to know the best way to stabilize Ikea Hemnes furniture on uneven floors. I have already considered various methods such as placing felt pads or furniture wedges underneath, but I’m unsure whether that is sufficient or if there are more specific solutions for the Hemnes series that I may have overlooked. I’m also interested in whether the furniture construction itself can be further secured in any way. Does anyone have experience or tips on this? Thanks in advance!

Hello Butrusdo,

Your concern is very understandable. Uneven floors can negatively affect the stability of furniture, especially with Hemnes pieces, as some of them are freestanding and stand on legs close to the floor. Here are a few mostly proven methods to stabilize Hemnes furniture on uneven floors:

- Furniture glides with adjustable height: These allow you to precisely adapt each furniture leg to the floor irregularities.
- Rubber or plastic wedges: Flexible wedges prevent slipping and protect the floor.
- Always check the furniture legs to ensure they have firm contact with the floor everywhere; if not, adjust them as needed.
- If possible, additionally secure the furniture to the wall to prevent tipping.

It is important that the solution avoids pressure points to prevent damage to the furniture. With these approaches, you can significantly improve stability.

Hello everyone,

I can definitely understand that wobbling can be really frustrating, especially when you want to rely on your furniture.

Sometimes, I find it helpful not only to rely on technical solutions but also to patiently experiment with how to make the furniture stand firmly. For example, I have found that using thin silicone pads under the furniture legs works well; they not only compensate for unevenness but also reduce noise. In addition, I have encountered situations where the best solution was to move the furniture slightly away from the wall and set it up in a different spot where the floor was more even.

Sometimes you really have to try a few things and not get discouraged. I hope you find a good solution for your Hemnes furniture!

Hello Butrusdo,

I would like to add how important it is, especially with Ikea Hemnes furniture, not to overlook securing it to the wall. This wall anchoring significantly increases stability on uneven floors by preventing tipping.

I also recommend measuring the unevenness carefully before making any adjustments. You can use simple tools like a spirit level or even a ruler app on your smartphone. This way, you can identify where and by how much you need to compensate.

For the actual leveling, here are some practical options:
- Wooden or plastic shims that can be adjusted in height
- Self-adhesive rubber pads or felt gliders
- Height-adjustable furniture glides that screw onto the legs (particularly for larger pieces)

Important: Make sure the furniture only touches the floor through the legs and nothing is being pulled at an angle, as this could damage the construction.

If you have any further questions, I’m happy to help.

Hi,

for uneven floors:
- Use adjustable leveling glides
- Use shims, preferably rubber
- Secure furniture to the wall

This should eliminate any wobbling.
