Hello everyone, I have a fairly specific question: I would like to securely and stably fix my Ikea Malm furniture to a wooden floor, as otherwise it feels a bit wobbly to me. What options are there to secure the furniture without damaging the floor so that it won’t slip or tip over? I’m thinking of practical methods that provide stability but are reversible in case I want to move the furniture later. Maybe someone has tips on choosing fastening materials or preparing the floor or the furniture? I would be very grateful for any advice on suitable materials or steps!

The pads are usually glued on. It is important to thoroughly clean the floor and the underside of the furniture beforehand to ensure proper adhesion of the glue. For Malm furniture, rubber pads with a thickness of at least 3-5 mm (0.1-0.2 inches) are recommended to noticeably improve stability. This solution is reversible and still protects the floor.

A combination of felt glides and rubber pads is a good compromise between durability and floor protection.
I also had some slight concerns that the furniture might slip, so I chose furniture fasteners with Velcro. They are very practical because you can securely attach the furniture while still being able to remove it at any time. However, you should check whether the Velcro leaves any residue on the wood. My experience so far: it works great, especially with light or medium-sized furniture.

The combined use of rubber pads, felt gliders, and possibly hook-and-loop fasteners seems like a practical approach that is both flexible and gentle on the floor.
