Hello everyone, I have noticed a few small holes and superficial scratches on my Ikea Metod kitchen fronts. These fronts have a smooth, laminated, or painted surface. My goal is to repair these minor imperfections as inconspicuously and permanently as possible, without damaging the appearance or surface. Has anyone had experience with which materials and methods work best? Is it enough to use filler, or is it better to use special repair kits for furniture fronts? And what about sanding or repainting afterwards – what do you recommend? I don’t want to replace entire fronts or sand them down, as the damages are only small. Thanks in advance for detailed advice!

I’ve always used repair wax for small holes.

Repair wax is really a secret tip! Especially if you slightly warm the wax, it becomes very easy to work with. Then just smooth it out briefly with a wooden spatula – almost invisible. Great for small damages without much effort.

And don’t worry about the vapor barrier or membrane, the wax doesn’t put it under tension or anything like that. Plus, if you need some color, wax can often be mixed or painted over. It makes the whole process more playful than stressful.
