Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new kitchen with IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets and face the challenge of securely attaching them to concrete walls. My main question is: which fastening materials and techniques are best suited to reliably mount the sturdy but heavy wall cabinets on a solid concrete wall?
I already have anchors and screws but am unsure whether standard expansion anchors or special heavy-duty anchors are recommended. I am also interested in how to properly support the weight across the entire distribution of the cabinets. Are there any tips for wall preparation, specific screw sizes, or special tools that I should definitely use?
Since this is a completely self-assembled kitchen, I want to avoid mistakes from the start. I appreciate any advice based on experience or proven practice!

I would like to add to the discussion with a structured guideline:
- For concrete walls when installing IKEA Metod kitchen units, frame anchors (M8 or M10) are preferred. Expansion anchors may loosen under load.
- Drill depth should be at least 10 cm (4 inches), diameter depending on the anchor, usually 10 or 12 mm (0.4 or 0.5 inches).
- Thoroughly blow out the drilled holes before inserting the anchors.
- The screw length should fully cover the length of the anchor and reach at least 6 cm (2.4 inches) into the anchor.
- Pay attention to the maximum load per anchor (usually between 80 and 150 kg (176 and 331 lbs), depending on the product).
- Mount the cabinets with at least two fixing points per cabinet, more for heavier units.
- Use a good drill with a hammer function and a bit suitable for concrete.
These recommendations are based on technical data sheets from fastening material manufacturers as well as practical installation experience.

For tools, a good hammer drill with a suitable masonry bit and a vacuum cleaner to clean out the drill holes are worthwhile.
M8 screws with a length of 8–10cm (3–4 inches) are ideal. And yes, using torque control on your cordless drill is really valuable; otherwise, things can get damaged quickly.
Good luck with the screwing, the kitchen will look great! 😊

Maybe GANAPEO can share how it went, I’d be interested!
