beataHello everyone, I am planning to build the IKEA Besta system as a home office cabinet and want to pay special attention to clean cable management. Specifically, I am looking for ways to assemble and connect the individual components so that the many cables from the PC, monitor, printer, and lighting are hidden and neatly organized. Does anyone have experience with how to best integrate cable grommets or cable channels without compromising the appearance or stability of the Besta modules? I am also interested in tips on suitable materials or accessories that match the design and load capacity of the Besta system. Additionally, it would be great to know if there are any special tricks for adding or replacing cables later on without having to completely dismantle the cabinet.
Super interesting project! 😊 I built my BESTA cabinet exactly like that and can highly recommend carefully working on the back panels – drilling holes for cable pass-throughs. This way, you can hide all the cables completely, and everything looks very clean. If you want to make changes later, you can easily pull out and replace the cables. Don’t be discouraged, it really works great!
For planning hidden cable management within the IKEA BESTA system, I recommend: - Creating right-angled cutouts in the back panels for cable routing – ideally using a laminate cutter or hole saw. - Using cable ducts or terminal strips to neatly bundle and secure cables. - Considering the load-bearing capacity of the shelves to avoid overloading from cable components. - Using power strips with flat plugs to make optimal use of the space behind the cabinet. These measures ensure a professional solution with high functionality and an aesthetic result.

For planning invisible cable routing in the IKEA BESTA system, I recommend: A really good summary. I would add that when positioning cable cutouts, it is important to ensure there is enough space for the cable length at critical points – for example, behind monitor stands or near power outlets. It is also advisable to have an opening at the back base of the cabinet to guide the cables to the outlet, as this keeps the front of the cabinet very neat.
Additionally, flexible spiral wraps can be used to bundle multiple cables together while providing mechanical protection. This is especially useful if cables need to be moved or re-routed.

You can also use flexible spiral tubing that bundles multiple cables together while providing mechanical protection. Thanks, that’s a great tip! Does anyone have recommendations on how to best secure such spiral tubing and cable grommets on the BESTA to prevent them from slipping? Also, I’m curious if there is a practical way to mount power strips so they remain easily accessible from the front but are still hidden inside the cabinet.
