Hello everyone,

I am planning to better organize my accessories in the living room and am considering the Ikea Platsa series for this purpose. Since I have little experience with modular furniture of this kind, I would like to know the best way to assemble and arrange PLATSA furniture for accessories such as jewelry, small decorations, and my collectibles.

Specifically, I am interested in the following points:
- How do I select the right modules to store different sizes of accessories efficiently?
- Are there any smart tips for assembly to ensure stability, even when I need many small compartments?
- Which inserts or additions from the PLATSA range work particularly well for smaller items?
- Are there any experiences with adapting the furniture to the room size and style in the living room?

I look forward to your tips and experiences! Thanks in advance.

Is that really necessary for a product that’s sold as a DIY system? Or is it a sign of poor quality and therefore unavoidable effort?

I understand your skepticism, but I don’t use clamps or other aids as a permanent part of the assembly. Rather, they come in handy when you want to build the furniture alone, for example. They help hold the parts together until you insert the screws, resulting in a neater finish.

Platsa is not high-end furniture, but the design and material quality are solid for the price. Proper assembly and planning make a big difference.

Regarding organization: the drawers can be fairly well structured with inserts and small boxes. I, for instance, use small plastic containers that I place inside the drawer. This way, I create several small compartments within the drawer, preventing items from mixing.

Of course, it’s not a perfect system for every purpose, but considering the price and modularity, you can get a lot out of it.

Regarding Tarbis’s point, I would like to elaborate a bit more since I work a lot with PLATSA myself.

The furniture is designed so that mechanical aids like clamps are generally not necessary—they are more of a tip for beginners and solo builders to minimize inaccuracies during assembly and to hold the parts securely together. This is especially helpful if you don’t have someone to assist you.

As for stability: The back panel combined with the connecting hardware ensures a secure structure. However, you should avoid overloading the shelves and drawers; the maximum load capacity can be found in the specification sheet.

For organizing accessories:
- Plan the dimensions of all items in advance
- Use the shallow drawers in PLATSA for rings and flat objects
- For taller items, I recommend open shelves with adjustable shelves
- To protect against dust, use doors or flaps; glass fronts are particularly useful for display purposes

A question for you, FEDEO: What is the size of your room, where will the furniture be placed? And which style do you prefer (modern, Scandinavian, classic)? This helps with the planning.

Wow, this is really a great discussion! FEDEO, I just want to encourage you to give PLATSA a try!

In my room, I have a small combination of different PLATSA modules, including extra small drawers and also open compartments. It’s super flexible—you can always rearrange or add to it when you get new accessories.

My tip:
- Use a few transparent boxes inside the drawers to keep everything organized
- Combine open compartments with bins to protect against dust while maintaining a clean look
- And take your time during assembly! It’s almost enjoyable to put the pieces together step by step and create your own personalized storage space!

You can do it!
