Hello everyone, I have several IKEA Besta drawers at home that I find increasingly noisy, especially when closing them. The annoying noise seems to occur when the drawer makes contact with the slides and the edges of the cabinet. My question is: how can you make IKEA Besta drawers quieter without restricting their functionality or carrying out complex modifications? Are there any proven methods, materials, or products that help make closing them noticeably quieter and smoother? I have already considered small dampers or felt strips but am unsure if that is sufficient or if there might be better techniques. Thanks for your tips!

IKEA Besta drawers are generally designed for low friction and easy assembly, which can sometimes result in noise during use. To reduce the closing sound, the following measures are recommended:

- Attach self-adhesive silicone or felt pads to the contact surfaces inside the cabinet to cushion the impact.
- Replace the original drawer slides with high-quality soft-close slides, which are also available as retrofit kits.
- Check and install the drawers uniformly to prevent misalignment and jamming.
- Regularly clean and lubricate the slides with an appropriate silicone spray (avoid oil, as it attracts dirt).

These methods allow for quieter closing without extensive modifications or loss of storage space.

Stick a felt pad to the frame and lightly treat the sliding rails with silicone spray. Soft-close as an upgrade also helps.

The key to a noticeably quieter drawer is actually reducing or stiffening the impact noises. This can be achieved by decoupling the elements that rub or collide. Specifically, I recommend:

- Installing soft damping strips inside the drawer carcass, ideally exactly where the drawer contacts the frame when closed.
- Regularly maintaining the drawer slides and checking for smooth operation; stiff or rough mechanisms cause noisy movement.
- If a soft-close mechanism is not an option, you can selectively slow down the closing by adding extra dampers made of foam or rubber.

It is important to ensure these modifications do not compromise stability or weight capacity. Some users also report tension in the slides that can be reduced with small adjustments.
